At United Utilities, we really value the thoughts, feelings and opinions of our workforce, that's why we provide opportunities for colleagues to have their say in a number of different ways.
Every year, we run our annual Your Opinion Survey, which is measured through a colleague engagement survey provider called Willis Towers Watson who are a leading provider in colleague engagement surveys throughout the UK.
In our most recent 2025 survey, our engagement score was 87% (+6 higher than the previous year), which was +8 higher than the UK Norm benchmark; +7 higher than the UK High Performing Norm benchmark and +5 higher than the Utilities Norm benchmark. This year, the survey response rate was a fantastic 87%.
Strong engagement also lends itself to low colleague attrition levels and that is reflected in our 5% colleague turnover for 2024/25.
Wellbeing and Health & Safety are currently our highest scoring categories, both at 94%, closely followed by Equity, Diversity and Inclusion category at 90%, reflecting the ongoing focus in those areas. We continue to achieve strong scores in My Voice is Heard (87%), Engagement (87%), Your Line Manager (85%), Communications (84%), Values (82%) and Change (81%).
The 2025 top scoring categories that exceeding the UK High Performance Norm, UK Norm and Utilities Norm benchmarks were Communications, My Voice is Heard, Engagement, Learning and Development, plus Equity, Diversity and Inclusion.
