United Utilities opens Windermere Information Centre

Windermere information centre

United Utilities’ Information Centre on Crescent Road is available for customers and members of the wider community to ask questions about their water bill, the company’s investment plans for Windermere and Cumbria or to learn what job opportunities there are from apprenticeships, graduate programmes or other full-time roles.

United Utilities team members who work in Cumbria and the Windermere area use the centre as their base and can help with queries from the community. Since it opened its doors in 2023, hundreds of customers have called in for information across a wide range of queries and topics.

The company is now gearing up and delivering its largest ever investment in the Windermere catchment, upgrading treatment standards at its wastewater treatment works across the area and creating more storage capacity to reduce spills from storm overflows, as well as working with others, such as the Love Windermere partnership, to tackle and find solutions to the broader challenges which can affect the lake’s water quality and mitigate the impact of climate change.

As its infrastructure upgrade projects get underway, there will be information available about them in the shop and teams available to talk to the community about what is happening across the catchment.

The United Utilities Information Centre is at 8 Crescent Road, Windermere, LA23 1EA just opposite the Post Office.  Opening hours are Monday – Friday 9am to 4-30pm.

Visitors can also sign up for a tour of Windermere wastewater treatment works, with next available dates for those and sign up instructions at: www.uuhub.co.uk/windermeretours
