Vital water improvement work underway in Baxenden

Local residents in parts of Baxenden are being invited to a public information event at Baxenden Cricket Club, Back Lane, Accrington, BB5 2RE, on Tuesday 11 June between 2pm and 6.30pm, to find out more about the work United Utilities is carrying out to make the local water network more resilient.

The water company plan to have a regualr presence in the area over the coming months, with some pockets of work already underway.

The main part of the project will involve installing sections of new water pipes.

The work is vital to help ensure a reliable water network now and into the future.

A United Utilities spokesperson said: “This is great news for residents in parts of Baxenden. We are absolutely committed to providing the area with a much more robust water supply.”

“We realise work on this scale can impact people getting on with their daily routine and we hope by explaining first-hand the work we need to carry out, people can plan ahead.”

“Our main priority now is to let as many people know as possible what is happening and we will be happy to answer questions at our information day”

The company has written to over 2000 properties and will continue to keep the community aware as work progresses.
