United Utilities will be in Manchester to help people save on their bills next week
United Utilities will be at Manchester Arndale next week to help shoppers save water and money.
The North West’s water company will have staff on hand to outline the practical steps customers can take to save on their water and energy bills.
Money saving tips include switching to a water meter, just boiling what is needed when using the kettle and switching from a bath to a shower.
There will also be advice on how customers can get help with their bills if they are struggling. More than 200,000 people across the North West are expected to receive support with their water bill during 2023/24 amid the continuing increases in the cost of living.
Over the past year, United Utilities has seen an increase in the number of customers completing “struggling to pay forms” to ask for help with their bills. The company has an industry-leading £280 million package of customer support available for 2020-2025.
As well as help with bills and saving water, staff will also be reminding people about what not to flush down the loo or pour down the sink.
Wet wipes, cotton pads and nappies, grease from roasting tins and leftover food are just some of the key culprits causing drains and pipes to clog, back up and overflow. Each year United Utilities deals with around 22,000 sewer blockages a year and 7,000 incidents of sewer flooding to homes and gardens caused by blockages
Viv Gold from United Utilities, said: “We understand that many people are struggling at the moment, so our team will be on hand to share information about the help and support we can offer to customers who may be concerned about their bills.
“We will handing out lots of freebies which customers can use in their homes and offering advice on how to save water and energy as this is good for the environment and people’s pockets.”
Visitors to Manchester Arndale can find the United Utilities stand on the ground floor of the near Next from Tuesday 21 February to Friday 24 February between the hours of 8am and 8pm.
