United Utilities to host Ambleside drop-in event

United Utilities is giving members of the public chance to find out more about its proposed investment at Ambleside wastewater treatment works that will help improve water quality in Windermere.

The company will be hosting a drop-in session at Ambleside Parish Centre on 6 November between 2pm and 7pm.

It recently announced plans for a further £156m of investment around the catchment in addition to the £41m that had already been announced.

Work is starting in the coming weeks on projects at four storm overflows at Ambleside, Elterwater, Hawkshead and Near Sawrey wastewater treatment works.

The newly proposed investment would see the reduction of storm overflow operations from the remaining two sites in the catchment and improvement to treatment processes at nine wastewater treatment works.

Andrew Marshall, Deliver Manager for United Utilities, said: “As people begin to see work happening around the catchment, we know many will want to find out more.  This drop-in event gives people the chance to come along and ask any questions they might have about our investment at Ambleside.”

For those unable to attend the event, United Utilities’ information centre in Windermere is open Monday to Friday between 9.30am and 5pm.
