Davyhulme charity relay raises £3000
United Utilities staff from Davyhulme Waste Water Treatment Works have raised £3000 for Macmillan cancer support.
More than 50 workers took part in a 5k relay around Davyhulme nature reserve as part of efforts to raise cash for the water company’s chosen charity.
As well as the relay, there was a raffle with prizes donated by suppliers, and a well-earned BBQ for those that took part. The relay, raffle and BBQ raised more than £1800 and United Utilities will be adding a further £1200 to the pot.
The winners of the relay were Matt Clawson, Sarah barker and Paul Minton with Matt and Paul completing double legs to finish in just over 16 minutes.
Suzy Hill, from United Utilities, who organised the event, said: “We’ve had this planned for a while but due to Covid restrictions it kept being delayed. But it was worth the wait and it was great to have so many willing volunteers from within the company to help out on the day.
“Macmillan are a very worthy charity and we’re proud to have raised so much for them.”
