Coronavirus – Anchorsholme Park to remain closed

The gates will remain closed at Anchorsholme Park to assist in the reduction of the spread of Covid-19.

Blackpool Council and water firm United Utilities had planned to open back-up the new facility to the public from Monday, April 6, following the completion of a major sewer improvement project.

Steve Wong, from United Utilities said: “I know this news will be disappointing for many local people, but we do all need to play our part to reduce the spread of the virus.

“If we take the necessary steps now, hopefully the restrictions we all currently face will be lifted sooner rather than later and in the not so distant future we call all be enjoying this fantastic new facility.
We thank everyone for their understanding at this time.”

The park will remain closed until further notice.  In the meantime activity which can continue safely, such as re-seeding and reinstatement work will carry on within the park boundary, in accordance with all Government safety guidelines, around such things as practising social distancing.

The official community open day for the park, which was planned for Saturday, June 6 has also been postponed, but both United Utilities and Council officials are still committed and determined to deliver a fantastic community event, but only when it is safe to do so.
