About our service

Our Commercial department is a core function of United Utilities. In this function we follow the end to end procurement process, from sourcing the right goods, works and services, through to paying our suppliers.

Our third party spend is around £1.1 billion per annum and consolidated into a number of categories which reflect similar commercial considerations and supply markets, with each category having a dedicated commercial manager. 

Our spend is administered and recorded by our Purchasing team who are responsible for ensuring our supply chain is paid on time and all associated governance, controls and reporting requirements are adhered to. There's more information on the commercial department and what we buy below.
