Lancashire

Lancashire is home to some of the most beautiful beaches and bathing waters in the UK, and picturesque rivers like the Ribble, Wyre and Lune. Over the last five years, we’ve invested more than £330 million across the county - working to improve our river health, capturing rainwater, building vital infrastructure and supporting local community projects.

Capturing rainwater to reduce pressure on Lancashire’s sewers

Our sewers combine rainfall with wastewater from houses and businesses - so heavy periods of rain make it more likely that storm overflows will operate.

Less water going into sewers reduces this risk - so we’re working with local communities to slow the flow of rainwater into the sewer network and working to improve river health.
