Merseyside

From the bustling streets of Liverpool to the pretty beaches in Formby and New Brighton and the industrial heartland of St Helens, Merseyside is a county that simply has it all.

The region is a place of transformation. A growing population, diverse industries and expanding infrastructure has seen us invest millions into the region as we understand that our water infrastructure needs to develop to support this tremendous growth.

The health of our rivers is important to us too.

The Mersey is an iconic part of this increasingly vibrant region and thanks to investment over the years, the river water quality has transformed over the past three decades.

But we want to ensure it continues to improve.

We have already invested millions of pounds in the region to ensure the people of Merseyside continue to get the best water and wastewater services possible.

£200 million has gone into improving sewerage treatment at our Liverpool Wastewater Treatment Works, for example, but we know there’s still much to do.

See what we are up to across Merseyside as we work towards a stronger, greener, and healthier North West.

Heavy rainfall and sewer flooding

The heavy rainfall may be causing flooding in some parts of the region.

Our teams are out working hard across the region helping our customers who have experienced sewer flooding in their homes.

If you’re experiencing flooding from a road or footpath and there is no evidence of sewage (toilet paper etc.) please report this to your local council, who are responsible for highways drainage flooding.

Please be aware that our phone lines are much busier than normal, take a look at our flooding page for further advice on what to do if you’re affected by flooding.
