Civil engineering

To the naked eye, Civil Engineers within United Utilities ‘just fix pipe leaks’ and ‘build new man holes’, but in reality there is much more to it and the development prospects for a new Civil Engineering graduate within UU are second to none.

On joining us, you’ll begin a four year I.C.E accredited training and placement programme where you’ll rotate around different departments under the Engineering ‘umbrella’, such as Design, Hydraulics, Geotechnical Engineering and Construction Services.

Throughout the programme, you can expect to work with engineers at all levels and all disciplines, including Construction Managers, Mechanical Engineers, Process (Chemical) Engineers, and Contractors – so you'll have access to a range of engineering specialists to help you develop within the UK’s Civil Engineering Industry.

You’ll also have the support of a mentor (typically a Senior Engineer or higher), who will be there to support you throughout your career with us and help you work towards gaining Chartership status.

Application stage for 2017 is now closed!
