We know there’s always lots of questions when looking for a new job. To help answer some of these, here are some of the most frequently asked questions about our apprenticeships…
When is the closing date for applications?
Our recruitment window is currently closed. If you'd like to be alerted once the window is open again, please fill in this form to register your interest.

I've applied for an apprentice role but haven't heard anything yet, have I been unsuccessful?
If you have already applied for one of our apprenticeship roles, your application is still under consideration and we will be in touch to let you know as soon as we can.
What do I do if I don't have access to the internet at home?
Like many large companies our application process is online. If you haven't got access to the internet we’d recommend using a computer at a public library to access the online form.
What do I do if I don't have an email address?
You can quickly and easily create an email account with one of the many free email providers such as Yahoo, Hotmail or Google Mail.
What will the online tests be like?
We’ll send you instructions by email which will tell you what you need to do. The online assessment is designed to enable us to identify your self-perceived strengths in critical work areas and find out if you’re right for the role. The tests don’t take long to complete. Just relax and answer the questions honestly. For the tests, you should make sure you’re in a quiet room with no interruptions.
What do I do if I can't attend on the dates for testing or assessment centres?
You should email the Resourcing Team at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will try to accommodate any changes but this cannot be guaranteed. It is important that you enter any dates you are unavailable on your application.
How will you contact me?
We’ll contact you by email and we’ll use the address you provided on your application. It's important that you check the details are correct when you complete your application.
What if I haven't received any emails?
Check your junk mail and firewall settings. Some email service providers set higher security levels which can prevent emails from being delivered.
When will I start work if I’m successful?
Our apprentice training begins early September, starting with an apprentice induction for all our new starters.
Will I have an induction into United Utilities?
All of our apprentices will attend a residential induction when they start with United Utilities. This gives you chance to meet other new apprentices, your new mentor and manager and get to know our business.
Can my family enquire about my application on my behalf?
Due to the Data Protection Act we can’t discuss you application with anyone except yourself. If anyone contacts us on your behalf wanting an update on your application they will not be given any information.
What will I study and when will I start at College?
As part of your apprenticeship you will attend college and work towards a qualification relating to your role. You will start your college course in September / October and details of your course and modules will be provided when you are offered an apprenticeship.
