UU Guest WIFI Terms & Conditions

The United Utilities public wireless guest internet service and connection (the “Wireless Guest Internet Services”) is provided for the use of official guests and visitors of United Utilities Water Plc (“UUW”) or any member of the group of companies of which UUW is part (the “UU Group”) . Any other use is unauthorised and so employees of the UU Group are not permitted to use the Wireless Guest Internet Services.

By using the Wireless Guest Internet Services you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions. If you do not agree then you must not use the Wireless Guest Internet Services.

The UU Group reserves the right to monitor Internet usage over the Wireless Guest Internet Service and may, at its complete discretion, remove or withdraw access to you without notice or explanation or liability to you. The UU Group may also control at its complete discretion the types of material that can be sent or received using the Wireless Guest Internet Services.

The UU Group is not responsible for and has no control over the content of the Internet and is not responsible for sensitive information (including, without limitation, the security of such information) communicated by or to you through the Wireless Guest Internet Services, such as, without limitation, credit card, personal data, or banking information, etc. You shall be responsible for ensuring that your device’s anti-virus and firewall software are up-to-date and adequate and the UU Group shall not be responsible for your failure to do so.

Use of the Wireless Guest Internet Services is at your own risk. The UU Group assumes no responsibility and shall not be liable for any loss of data, damage, costs or expenses, suffered or incurred by you as a result of or in connection with your access to use of or inability to use the Wireless Guest Internet Services (including, without limitation, any loss of data, damage, costs or expenses suffered or incurred by you due to viruses/malware that may infect your device as a result of your use of the Wireless Guest Internet Services). Further, the UU Group assumes no responsibility or liability for physical damage to or theft of your device.
In using the Wireless Guest Internet Services you agree not to act in any way that could be unlawful or encourage others to act unlawfully. Further, you agree:

a) to respect all copyright laws and licensing agreements pertaining to material obtained from the Internet via the use of the Wireless Guest Internet Services and the UU Group shall not responsible for your failure to do so;

b) not to use the Wireless Guest Internet Services to undertake actions that are harassing, defamatory, threatening, obscene, abusive, racist, sexist, offensive or otherwise objectionable or inappropriate;

(c) not to use the Wireless Guest Internet Services to collect personal details or to send spam;

d) not to use the Wireless Guest Internet Services in any way that may materially affect the running of the UU Group’s network or other technology connected to it; and

e) not to use the Wireless Guest Internet Services to access networks that do not belong to you or that you would otherwise not be entitled to access


The UU Group does not guarantee that your hardware or software will work with the Wireless Guest Internet Services. If you have problems accessing the Internet over the Wireless Guest Internet Services connection, the UU Group’s staff cannot assist in making changes to the your network settings or perform any troubleshooting on your device. You should refer to the owners’ manual for your device or other support services, offered by your device manufacturer.

You hereby acknowledge and agree that the members of the UU Group are entitled to co-operate with law enforcement authorities and rights-holders in the investigation of any suspected or alleged unlawful activity by you which may include, but is not limited to, disclosure of such information as we have about you in relation to your usage of the Wireless Guest Internet Services and are entitled to provide by law, to law enforcement authorities or rights-holders.

The UU Group takes the security of personal data seriously and complies with the requirements of the Data Protection Act 1998. Information which you may submit in order to gain access to Wireless Guest Internet Services will be kept secure and will only be processed for the purposes of this service.
You shall be responsible to the UU Group for all damage, loss, costs or expenses suffered by any member of the UU Group arising out of any breach by you of these terms and conditions save that nothing herein shall limit or exclude the liability of the UU Group for death or personal injury resulting from its negligence or fraud or any liability which cannot be excluded or limited by law. ”
